Watching my life go by…
This week has been a total sprint… seriously. I had hoped to come back from Louisville and slide into a non eventful work week so I could process, do a debrief, and lessons learned. As you can see by looking at this site and a sojournhuntsville.org my “virtual” productivity has been minimal. I have found myself aimlessly staring at Twitter and drooling as I enter some catatonic state. Not good.
Last night I drove mom to Birmingham to catch a flight to Cali to see my sister graduate Law School. Literally, dropped her off and headed back to catch Holly’s choral concert at school. I had every intention of stopping off at Jim-n-Nicks for some gluttonous indulgence of Chicken Finders, onion rings, and cheese biscuits. Traffic was bumper to bumper going 100mph, so as I am looking for my exit I ended up passing it. O’ well… I was able to make it back for the last song of the concert. Holly and I headed over to Starbucks for some caffeinated refreshment. (See video once it is posted).
One thing I did need to mention about Louisville… is Quills Coffee & Books (http://quillscoffee.com/ and http://www.consuminglouisville.com/2007/10/quills-coffee-books.php and http://www.flickr.com/photos/underneath/tags/quillscoffee/ ) While I was their working on last Sunday’s worship flow and listening to Portisheads new record, I ordered some drink that was equivalent to a Caramel Macchiato (not sure what they call it at Quills). It was the BEST cup of “coffee” I have EVER put to my mouth. It was that amazing!!! Better yet, I hear that the owner is a Sojourner. Coffee shops around here need to step it up. I am heading over to Stearns (http://stearnscoffee.com/ )tomorrow to do some work on videos and Sojourn stuff… Hopefully it will live up to the hype.
I am reading through the book of Luke… trying to do some during my lunch break… yesterday sitting at Starbucks on airport I got hammered with this verse…
Luke 6:46 – 49 “Why do you call me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do what I tell you? Everyone who comes to me and hears my words and does them, I will show you what he is like: he is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when a flood arose, the stream broke against that house and could not shake it, because it had been well built. But the one who hears and does not do them is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. When the stream broke against it, immediately it fell, and the ruin of that house was great.”
That really got me thinking about the things the Lord has called me to do… All I can seem to do is say, “Lord increase my faith”.

Good Press… Good Friends…
My new friend Bobby Gilles (@bobbygilles on Twitter) just outed me in his latest blog on Sojourn Community Church Music site. It was a fantastic time… overwhelming in some regards as the Holy Spirit flooded me with vision for Sojourn Huntsville. I hopefully will have time to blog a “debrief” of the things I learned and things that left me challenged (or mentally dizzy). I still have several videos and pictures to post. Life has been in full sprint since I got back from Louisville… I guess I can sleep when I am dead.
I am looking forward to cultivation a stronger relationship with Sojourn Community Church (Louisville). I think we share the same ethos and focus on Jesus, Gospel, and Love for our city. It is good to have churches and people to look to, who are ahead of us, as we walk out this journey. I was grateful and humbled that Daniel Montgomery (Sojourn Lead Pastor) took some time to field our questions and give us a glimpse of the inside of Sojourn… even more astounding is that he was sick and still willing to give his time and invest in us.
More later…

Cultivate Beauty Festival

I will be heading to the “Cultivate Beauty Festival” in Louisville, KY tomorrow. I am looking forward to spending time with those that are going more so than the festival itself. It is my intention to take a bunch of photos and do some video work on the trip. Should be a good time of rest, dreaming, vision casting, and building relationships.
